The Ukulizer stated out as a hobby project a couple of years ago. I missed a specific ukulele song site which could be used to manage ukulele songs and specifically transpose between and display grip pictures for the different kinds of Ukulele tunings available. At the same time I needed a good training project for PHP script programming. The Ukulizer is the result of these needs

Over time I have come to realize that I do not have the time to properly administer and develop the site. Although The Ukulizer is highly automated and basically needs zero maintainance, someone needs to monitor the quality of the incomming song material, reject the crap and fix minor text errors in the rest.
I also feel that The Ukulizer has a potential to be developed into much more than it is today. But you need time for that. And that is time that I do not have.

So what is the price?
Zero, Nada, Nichts.
I have no intention whatsoever of trying to make money out of the project. If someone wants to take care of The Ukulizer they get it for free. This goes both for the site code and the domain name.

What limitations will apply?
None whatsoever.
If you get it you can do whatever you like with it. Make it into a open source project, build a buissiness on it, keep it as a hobby project. You decide, it will be yours.

Who can apply?
Anyone.
Send an email to info@ukulizer.com and tell me who you are and why you want to run The Ukulizer.
At the end of the summer I will decide what to do with the site. If I receive no interest in it, I will close it down.

Will there be multiple copies?
No. The Ukulizer is one site and I will transfer it to one person only.

If you are interested in taking on The Ukulizer you need to understand the following:

  • Since I wanted to use as much PHP functionality as possible, the site is dynamic. This means that in order to evolve it, you have to be a software developer. You can not develop the site without writing code. This said, you do not need to be a professional developer. Web script programming is as far from rocket science as you can get.
  • Although I am a professional developer, the site is not up to professional standards in terms of architecture and design. It was built as a hobby project and in the early stages I was completely new to PHP programming. Some parts are OK and others are OKish.
  • I do not have time to provide much support. I will help you getting started, but that is basically it. I will specifically not be able to help with bug fixing.
